Alcohol consumption tears up families and lives EVERY DAY! At age 20, Chris watched his mother slowly and painfully die over a period of five months in the hospital of cerrhosis of the liver, caused by alcoholism. She died just 10 days short of her 53rd birthday. This was just the tail-end of the suffering on Chris's family due to alcohol; his parents divorced when he was 8 years old, caused in part by alcohol consumption by both parents.
